-Synopsis-
For a long, detailed synopsis, click here.

Ten year old Chihiro is a typical spoiled little girl. She reluctantly is forced to move to a new place, and while on the road trip her and her parents get lost near their new home. They find themselves "drawn in" to an abandoned amusement park/town area. Chihiro finds a huge bathhouse in the town area and after the sun sets she finds herself transitioned into a world of spirits. Her parents are changed into animals by the witch who rules mystical Bathhouse, and she finds herself trapped in this strange world. She has to work in the bathhouse to try and find a way to save her parents and herself.

The movie is about her journey and the people she meets along the way.

-Disney's Relation to the Movie-

Disney did not produce or have any influence on the original production of this movie. They just wanted to bring it from Japan to English audiences. I don't have any major problems with Disney, but when I found out that they were releasing this movie in the U. S., I did have concerns. Many people wondered if they'd butcher it in English translation. I feel as though a good job was done in translating. The differences are subtle, mostly cultural things. Specifically, it was Disney/Pixar that brought the film to the U. S.

-Awards that the Film Won-

I believe this is a good majority of the awards the film has won; it was good to see an animated movie get some credit for a change.
